VERY SMART AND NOT A FOOT OUT OF PLACE AND SHOES SHINING BRIGHT.

The Guards consist of five infantry regiments – the Grenadier, Coldstream, Scots, Irish and Welsh Guards – and two regiments of the Household Cavalry – the Life Guards and Blues and Royals. Most of the Guards will have seen action overseas

"Patience is key! I waited for a clear shot of these two marching soldiers amidst the sea of phones snapping pictures. This photo captures their determination perfectly, with the blurred background highlighting the chaos of the crowd. It's amazing how the soldier on the left manages to see through all that!"

According to a guard who spoke to Insider at a royal event in May, the bright-red colour of the tunics is rooted in tradition and helps cover up blood stains. However it does little to make you invisible which is probably why you were shot.

WHEN IT ALL CHANGED

It was, unsurprisingly, not too difficult for a Boer marksman to pick out a target when they were all dressed in flaming red jackets. This forced a change in tactics, and by 1902 the British army had officially adopted khaki as the colour of uniform for all troops stationed overseas.

THE CHANGING OF THE GUARD

"This photo is a testament to the power of timing! The crowds were massive, making it difficult to photograph the soldiers. With a quick burst of frames, I managed to capture one perfectly. The blurred background adds a sense of movement and energy to the scene."

If you are a budding new young photographer then practice and practice. In time you will also get shots that are hard now, but in time will improve.

The moat at Windsor castle now a lovely garden

The Moat Garden “ABOVE”

It is found in what remains of the ditch that encircled the Round Tower, created when the Normans built the steep motte (or mound) with a keep on top.

< THE ROUND TOWER “THE KEEP”

The Round Tower at Windsor Castle is one of the most iconic and recognizable landmarks in the United Kingdom. It is a central part of the castle's defenses, and it has been used for centuries as a lookout point and a symbol of royal power.

THE LONELY SOLDIER “BUT HES NOT REALLY ALONE AT ALL” THERE MUST HAVE BEEN HUNDREDS OF TOURIST IN FRONT OF HIM

A lone guard stands on duty in what was a very hot day. Somehow to me it seems rude to stand in front of him and take a picture. Many did while I was there. I had chosen to stand further back and use the lens I had on my camera. I managed to get a lot more in then just the soldier. I do love the lantern above his head. I am sure they change guards at a set time but not when I was there.
