London Gatwick Airport

London Gatwick Airport opened in 1958, the year I was born. My dad began working there in 1936 when it was still known as the Beehive Terminal, which still exists today. They have since transformed it into rentable office space and virtual offices. At the age of 14, he was paid to lacquer aircraft. In a good month, working weekends, he could earn 12.5 pence, which was equivalent to two shillings and sixpence in the old currency.
